whenever you choose to cook any kind of meat, you always want to ensure the meat is cooked fully through. One way I check, rather than using a temperature tool, is to see the color in the middle. If the meat is still pink, it's not cooked yet. Unless you are cooking steak, then you cook it to your liking. But with chicken or pork, you can check this way. If it is still pink, cook it for 5-10 more min till it becomes the right color.
